It is said that the Uezu family descended from the lords of the old Gushikawa Castle.The family were ”Pechin”, a rank equivalent to Samurai. It is an old family. Generations were ”Magiri” (an old administrative district) heads. The site has a magnificent Ryukyu limestone wall and is surrounded by Fukugi trees. The whole estate – main house, the ante-house, well, and so forth – is very well preserved, a remarkable remnant of its time. It was built in the middle 1700′s. It is a National Important Cultural Asset. The residence is not presently open to the public.
