This falls is on the Pinai River, which flows into Funaura Bay in northern Iriomote Island. The Pinai of Pinaisara means Hige (beard) and Sara means “something hanging down.” The falls look like a white beard hanging down, thus the name. With a 55-meter drop, this is Okinawa’s highest falls. The walk to the pool below the falls will take more than an hour. However, be careful when you get there as water level in the pool varies with the tides.
